Subsidies to Desert Hills Water have been stopped. Now we must stop the developer subsidies
to help pay for fire protection.

Desert Hills has no CAP Water so Cave Creek stepped in when the wells went dry. Poor accounting practices hid subsidies. Those subsides have been stopped. Desert Hills now has specific rates designed to fairly and accurately cover specific costs in that system. Those rates are different from Cave Creek water rates.

Water Capacity Fees for new development are too low. Studies are underway to stop residents unfairly subsidizing the new developments.

Much of non-utility Town staff costs support new development like permitting, sewer, water and planning reviews. Those departments incur over $2 million in costs yet only bring in just over $700,000 in fees. We must ensure developers pay their fair share and the Town does not subsidize them! The Town needs that money to pay for the Fire Department!
